The vote for the “Marathon of the year” has been given much attention by now. Always at the end of a year the on-line portal www.marathon4you.de calls for the vote. This time 11.701 readers from 24 countries participated in the vote after all. And behold: Our quite young Wall Race could stand its ground among the really big races of the running scene and was respectably placed 37 (out of 100 events that made it to the vote). Berlin’s 100 miles race finished up tightly behind the well known classics in Switzerland like Biel or „swissalpine“, but before the german Roentgenlauf at Remscheid (which deserved a better placement) or marathon greats like Leipzig, Freiburg and Mannheim. This proves again that a great number of participants is not always proof for a popular rating. Considering only the German races, the Wall Race even achieves rank 24. This is a great and deserved award for the dedication of the 300 volunteers. The complete organizational team dearly thanks everybody who we were able to inspire along and with the Wall Race and who gave us their vote!

Congratulations to the organization of the Rennsteig Run which truly deserves the title “Marathon of the year”. Despite all professionalism the “Thuringian runners‘ Woodstock” preserved its familiar charm, which was obviously honored by the participants (especially with the overall victory). Many established city marathons might start reflecting…
